Welcome to Hakka Winter Camp! You will travel to Hakka ancestral land in Yongding & Dabu, where you will learn the legendary Hakka Culture first hand! Be mesmerized by the Hakka Earthern Buildings, Hakka cuisines, Arts & Crafts. Learn Hakka dialect from the hospitable Hakka people! Our well designed program will show you all things Hakka, one theme a day!

​DAY 1 – MAGNIFICENT TULOU   (XIAMEN - YONGDING)
Charter a bus travel from Xiamen to Dabu county. Admire clusters of Tulou along the way!
Morning:
  • Meet at Xiamen (advise to reach Xiamen 1 day before)
  • En route to Yongding after breakfast.
Afternoon:
  • Lunch at Yongding
  • Tour Yongding Tulou Cluster (Hukeng, Gaobei, Chuxi)
Evening:
  • Check in to Tulou, be on time to catch sunset at Tulou


​DAY 2 - TULOU WAY OF LIFE   (YONGDING - DABU)
Understand the history behind  Hakka tulous while enjoying the carefree lifestyle in Tulou
Morning/Afternoon: 
  • Catch the sunrise, go for a morning walk.
  • Go around the Tulou village, enjoy the fresh produce.
Late Afternoon:
  • Visit Zhang Bishi's former residence. During his time, Zhang was the richest man in Nanyang and was also regarded as the Rockefella of China.
  • Learn about this great man and his contribution.
Evening:
  • Check in to Chengsi Mansion. Welcome Dinner


​DAY 3 – SCHOLAR'S LIFE  (BAIHOU)
Baihou had produced some very well known Chinese imperial scholars over a century.  Witness the legacy of scholar culture in this scholar town.
Morning:
  • Meet the famous scholar clan.
  • Admire the beautiful communal houses, which only imperial scholars were allowed to build.
Afternoon:
  • Learn any one art - Chinese Calligraphy,  Brush Painting, Pottery Making, Tea Ceremony
Evening:
  • Free & Easy, Evening Stroll, Meet up with relatives

DAY 4 – ANATOMY OF A HAKKA VILLAGE   (DABU HAKKA VILLAGE)

The Hakka way of life is deeply influenced by agricultural schedule & Confucianism. Experience this in a Hakka village.
Morning: 
  • Try out some farm work in a Hakka village.
  • Witness the clan system in a clan shrine.
  • Understand the message behind a flagstone & its glory. 
Afternoon:
      Hakka Culinary Lesson
  • Cook Hakka Dish
  • Brew Hakka Wine
Evening:
  • Chat with the locals
  • Visit Xihu Park


​DAY 5 – ALONG THE HANJIANG RIVER   (TOWNS ALONG THE RIVER: SANHE, DAMA, GAOBEI)
In the old days when roads were not built, Hanjiang River connected mountainous Dabu to the outside world.
Morning: 
  • Visit Ancient town Sanhe
  • Stroll at ancient commercial town, Dama
Afternoon:
  • Visit Lee Kwan Yew's Ancestral House
  • Tour the renowned porcelain town Gaobei.
Evening:
  • Stroll around Tai’An Lou
  • Stroll around Huliao 


DAY 6 - TRAVELLING, FREE & EASY
  • Sight-seeing on the way to departure city (Guangzhou /Shenzhen /Jieyang /Xiamen)
  • Free & Easy
  • Stay overnight at the departure city

DAY 7 - DEPARTURE
  • Gather after Breakfast;
  • En route to Airport.
  • Home sweet home

Hakka @ Chengsi Mansion was established by a group of local and overseas Dabu Hakka people.
We are located at Chengsi Mansion, a charming Hakka & Western Style building. It was first built as a traditional Hakka dwelling in the late 18th century, and expanded to its current size with a two-storey Western style building in the early 20th century. ​ Today Chengsi Mansion is a Hakka Lifestyle Museum, equipped with Calligraphy Station, library, art salon, garden, guest rooms, porcelain studio etc. We are passionate about Hakka culture and hope to share it with you.​
